Common Symptoms
You see a message: 'payment failed to initialize contact support' when opening Colonist.io.
The app does not load, even after reinstalling or resetting your device.
Other payment or loading errors appear repeatedly.
Causes
The most common reason for this error is a temporary server outage or maintenance on Colonist.io’s payment or authentication systems. During these periods, payment services may be unavailable and the app may fail to load as expected.
Network issues or an outdated app/browser can also cause this. If it started suddenly and other players are affected too, it's most likely a server-side issue.
Solutions
Make sure you have a stable internet connection. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, or restart your router.
Visit the Colonist.io website or social channels (Discord, Twitter/X) for announcements about server outages or maintenance. If there is an outage, most issues resolve automatically once service is restored.
If an outage is confirmed or suspected, wait at least 30 minutes before trying again. Temporary server issues are usually resolved quickly.
If you are using a browser, clear your cache and cookies. On mobile, force close and reopen the app or reinstall if you haven't already. This error can appear on both web and mobile.
Contact support via chat at colonist.io. Include a screenshot of the error message and the steps you've already tried.
If it's a server outage, the problem usually resolves on its own after a short wait.
